The natural world and all the biology it involves helps shape our lives from every breath we take to growing the food we eat. At Numberprep, we believe knowing basic biology is important for everybody and more importantly, that you can have fun learning about it. We aim to pass on this enthusiasm to all of our students, from those first meeting the subject, to students intending to continue studying science at A-Level and beyond.

At primary school your child will first be formally taught science and their natural inquisitiveness about how the world works has the potential to spark a lifelong interest in the subject. At Numberprep we teach biology alongside the other sciences in line with the National Curriculum, and ensure sessions are engaging by linking topics to familiar living things, including themselves. Topics: Working scientifically, Plants, Animals including humans, Living things and their habitats, Evolution and inheritance.

It is at this stage that your child is likely to first encounter biology as a separate subject and learn about the inner workings of organisms. This can seem abstract or less relevant to day-to-day life, but our tutoring is designed to improve your child’s understanding through real world examples and models. At Numberprep we encourage curiosity and once comfortable with the key topics your child will be able to ask their tutor challenging questions of their own. Topics: Working scientifically, Structure and function of living organisms, Material cycles and energy, Interactions and inter-dependencies, Genetics and evolution.

At Numberprep we cover biology as part of single, double and triple (separate) science with all exam boards, including AQA. We will work with your child on any topics they find harder to understand so that they are comfortable with the syllabus and ensure they are able to apply this knowledge in different scenarios. This will give your child the confidence and tools to tackle questions when exams come around. Topics: Working scientifically, Cell biology, Transport systems, Health, disease and the development of medicines, Coordination and control, Photosynthesis, Ecosystems, Evolution, inheritance and variation.
